Who Was Better?
Who’s better? Dale Earnhardt or Jeff Gordon. It’s a question that’s been asked a lot since Gordon passed Earnhardt on the all time wins list. The Charlotte Observer writer David Poole gave his thoughts in his latest article, How do NASCAR eras compare?.
In my opinion, you really can’t compare. You can give me all these stats on the two drivers, but there is one problem. Earnhardt was killed before his career was over. There’s no doubt that Earnhardt would have had more than 76 wins by now and maybe a couple more championships. The two drivers just can’t be fairly compared with Earnhardt’s career cut short.

I agree that if Earnhardt had not been killed, he would have had many more wins, so I believe him to be the superior driver. Plus, I just don’t like Jeff Gordon.

You can’t compare the two anymore than you can compare Earnhart and Richard Petty…
