Weekend Race Preview 10/19 (Martinsville)
Ah, Martinsville. The infamous short track is known for its bump and run style, which could put some of the drivers in the Chase for the Nextel Cup Championship into the wall. Who will survive in one piece is yet to be seen. The Craftsman Truck series also takes a trip around Martinsville as the point standings stay very close between Mike Skinner and Ron Hornaday. The Busch Series drivers will be racing at Memphis next weekend and Carl Edwards tries to clinch the championship of that series. However, they have this weekend off. To find out more about what to watch for this weekend, keep reading after the jump.

Nextel Cup Subway 500
Airs Sunday at 1:00 PM on ABC
Once again, this is a Hendrick Motorsports dominated track (which one isn’t lately?) with Jimmie Johnson winning the race in Martinsville last fall and this past spring. Before that, Jeff Gordon was king of the half mile track. With both of them so close together in the point standings and the end of the Chase nearing, will they still work as a team or will it be every man for himself? The only other driver to win at Martinsville in the past three years is Tony Stewart, so we’ll just have to wait and see if Smoke rises to the top and stops the Hendrick Domination.
Craftsman Truck Kroger 200
Airs Saturday at 2:30 PM on SPEED
Mike Skinner may be currently be 14 points behind Ron Hornaday, but he is the defending champion on the Martinsville track, so he’s got a lot to look forward to this weekend. The last two Craftsman Truck races at the track in Martinsville has been won from the pole, so whoever leads the pack to the green flag has a great chance to take the checkered flag first as well. One thing is for certain, short track racing and Craftsman Trucks make a great combination to watch.
