The Top Ten (Autism Speaks 400 presented by Visa)

by

I have decided to change the “Who To Watch” articles to “The Top Ten”. Each week, I will pick the drivers I think will finish in the top 10 based on their stats at the upcoming track and in the current season.

My Pick For The Top Ten:

#01 Mark Martin: Although he starts 21st, he has 4 wins, 11 top 5’s, and 15 top 10’s at Dover. Plus, it’s tough to bet against Mark in 2007.

#2 Kurt Busch: Although he doesn’t have the best stats at Dover, he is starting to really turn things around. With him starting 12th, I think he can make his way to the top 10 and stay there.

#5 Kyle Busch: He has no wins at Dover, but he has finished in the top 5 in 3 of the last 4 Dover races.

#8 Dale Earnhardt Jr.: Dale Jr. has 1 win at Dover and starts 2nd. It seems like not having Tony Jr. at the track hasn’t hurt him.

#11 Denny Hamlin: He has never won at Dover, he has no stats to speak about at the track, and starts 29th. But this is Denny Hamlin. He CAN get to the top 10.

#12 Ryan Newman: Ryan has 3 wins and an average finish of 9th at Dover. He is also starting from the pole for the second week in a row.

#17 Matt Kenseth: Kenseth has 1 win at Dover and starts 17th. With him quietly finishing in the top 10 almost every week, it’s starting to look like his championship season.

#24 Jeff Gordon: In 14 starts this year, Gordon has finished in the top 10 12 times. He has also won 3 races at Dover. I think the only week he won’t be on my top 10 list is the week he takes off for the birth of his daughter.

#26 Jamie McMurray: Although he isn’t have a great season, he has 250,000 reasons to win this race. Crown Royal will donate $250,000 to The Jamie McMurray Foundation if he can win the race.

#48 Jimmie Johnson: Another driver that will be in my top 10 list most weeks. He has 3 wins at Dover and 9 top 10 finishes in 2007.

My Pick To Win: It was tough to pick between Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson for the win, but I gotta go with Jimmie Johnson.

Dark Horse: If the Hendrick cars have some back luck, I really think Jamie McMurray will pull off the win.

Please post your comments on who will finish in the top 10 at Dover.

  1. Robert Bourne Says:

I would take out Kyle Bush and Denny hamlin ..Kyle is on a crashing roll which he will have to prove to me he has settled down a bit before I pick him and Hamlin openly admits he struggles here.. I would throw in Bobby Labonte as a dark horse…

    cheers

  2. Pickel Says:

I vote for Jamie McMurray only because of his support of autism!

  3. Robert Rhodes Says:

Well, looks like we won’t know anything until tomorrow.

I agree about Labonte, I think he is really going to turn Petty around.

I am pulling for McMurray this week.
