Nextel Cup Race Results 10/7 (Talladega)
There may not have been the “big one” this time at Talladega, but there were definitely more than enough engine failures on the Dale Earnhardt Inc. and Richard Childress Racing Chevys. The Hendrick Motorsports cars may have started near the back of the pack, but they worked as a team to race their way to the front by the end of the race. Jeff Gordon took the checkered flag and made it a 2007 sweep at Talladega winning both the spring and fall races at the restrictor plate superspeedway. Gordon’s teammate Jimmie Johnson finished second and Hendrick teammate Casey Mears got a solid sixth place finish. Jeff Gordon now leads the point standings in the Chase for the Championship.
