COT Full Time In ‘08
From day one, I didn’t like the Car of Tomorrow. My reason, at first, was kind of lame though. I thought it was just plain ugly. I still do. As I learned more about the COT, I liked the safety part of it and that it would make for more exciting racing. I don’t really see where it has made it more exciting, although the margin of victory in the 5 COT races has been smaller compared to the same races last year.
The COT was also to help some of the smaller teams compete with the bigger ones. Although Hendrick Motorsports has dominated the 5 COT races this year, Jeff Green is proof that it has helped. His two top 10 finishes this year have both come in COT races.
With all that said, I think NASCAR is pushing this a bit fast. There are still drivers that don’t like the way the COT drives. Also, there have been issues this year, such as the foam catching fire, that should be looked into more before puting the drivers in these cars for a full season.
